The second WIC will take place in Beijing, China on 1–2 November 2020 to coincide with the World Flu Day Initiative and will be hosted by:
The Chinese Association of Preventive Medicine (CPMA), China Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), and the Asia-Pacific Alliance for the Control of Influenza (APACI). APACI will be working closely with European Scientific Working group on Influenza (ESWI), the National Adult and Influenza Immunization Summit (NAIIS) and the International Society for Influenza and other Respiratory Virus Diseases (isirv) to ensure a global prespective.

Topics will include:

  • Integrating seasonal influenza control policy development and pandemic preparedness
  • Advances in the clinical management of influenza
  • Advances in influenza antiviral treatment
  • Progress in universal influenza vaccine development
  • Molecular evolution of SARS-CoV-2 virus and epidemiological significance
  • Challenges in infection control practices presented by SARS and COVID-19
  • Progress on the use of “Big Data” for the surveillance of COVID-19 and influenza pandemics
  • Innovative approach in the application of vaccines for the control of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza infections
