APACI, in collaboration with the KIIT University in Odisha, the Influenza Foundation of India (IFI), the Association of Physicians of India (Odisha branch), the Regional Medical Research Center (Indian Council of Medical Research) and the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India is holding an Influenza Workshop in Bhubaneswar, on Sunday 11 March 2018, at the KIIT University campus.

The meeting will be ideal for Clinicians and other healthcare professionals, Medical Students, Virologists, Epidemiologists, and Government & Public Health Officials.

Workshop objectives will be to:
•    Bring the latest information about influenza prevention to practicing and training health care professionals
•    Raise awareness about those in the community that are at greatest risk of serious complications, in particular those with non-communicable diseases
•    Review surveillance in the region and measures used to determine burden of disease.

Topics will include:
•    Surveillance & epidemiology, and disease burden in India
•    Influenza and chronic lung disease
•    Influenza and diabetes / endocrine disorders
•    Vaccination of pregnant women to protect the mother and the infant
•    Paediatric influenza vaccination – individual protection and herd immunity
•    Vaccine effectiveness and new vaccines
•    Development of antivirals and treatments for influenza
